Alopecia Due to Lichen Planus
Dear Dr. Dean
Dr Cinque has recommended that I contact you as I asked for advice regarding my 2-year-old problem.
I have Alopecia caused by Lichen Planus. I have tried everything. I am taking HGH I am using the Ultimate Rife machine
I plan to do a deep detox. My problem is that I try everything by myself. I do not have professional help. I do go to a Homeopathic doctor who is happy to keep me healthy otherwise.
Please let me know if you can help.
Thank you

Alopecia Due to Lichen Planus Part Two
Dear Dr. Dean
I am thankful for your kind reply and encouragement. The acute phase is gone but the scalp is still sensitive and has a few brown spots. I am 90 % bald.
Should I still use the topical steroids? Believe it or not I have applied Colloidal Silver a few times. It was my instinct knowing the antibacterial effect of the product. Is MSP the same? Where do I find it?
I have seen a nutritionist who is checking my thyroid thru basal temperature and interesting enough I have hypothyroidism despite the fact that my blood work doesnt show it.
I do have a lot of stress in my life and I also think my immune system is attacking my hair. What does AdaptaPhase add to the picture?
What do you think about Avacor? I used it for 5 months and I regrew about 9 hairs altogether. I consider that good news because my follicles are not dead completely but of course is insignificant to the picture. Since you were so kind to research the Lichen Planus and give me the useful information I would like to keep you informed of the progress if any.
One more time I am grateful for your response.
Best regards

Androgenic Alopecia
Dear Dr. Dean:
I am 30 years old and was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia by my physician who told me that there is no cure only some treatments that will retard the loss of hair but those will lose activity with time. He put me on ciproterone acetate + ethynilestradiol and minoxidil 5% every night. Is there anything else I can do? Maria D
Baldness and Insulin
Dear Dr. Dean
I recently read that high levels of insulin and/or IGF-1 may be a cause of baldness and that drugs such as Glucophage Actos or Avandia may help. Do you know of any research in this area? Do you agree with this theory? If so which drug do you think would be most effective? Which would be safest? The threat of lactic acidosis is a bit scary. Do any of the supplements such as Alpha Lipoic Acid or Vanadyl Sulfate actually lower insulin or IGF-1 levels? What might the consequences of lower IGF-1 levels be?
Any suggestions you could make on preventing and reversing hair loss would be greatly appreciated. Im already using Rogaine along with Proscar Dercos and Nizoral shampoos from IAS.
Thank you David R.
Beta Sitosterol and Saw Palmetto in Healthy Hair Caps
Dear Dr. Dean:
Does Healthy Hair caps have enough beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto in it to not buy each of these products separately?
I am currently using Androstenediol/dione products to increase muscle mass and strength. I am just starting a cycle and I would rather buy one product and take fewer pills if it is going to produce the same results.
I am also using Bio-DIM to help shed the extra estrogen.
How much of each substance is in Healthy Hair caps?
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank You for your time and consideration.
Sincerely
Alan
Childhood Alopecia

Concern about DHT and Healthy Hair Caps
Dear Dr. Dean:
I just began taking the Healthy Hair Caps to prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT. I am wondering if inhibiting DHT has any negative effect on libido or erectile function. I know one of the possible side effects of Propecia (which also inhibits DHT) is loss of libido and erectile function. Could the Healthy Hair Capsules do the same thing? Also I have read conflicting reports about the effects of DHT on muscle development. Some sources say DHT is necessary to promote muscle development. Other sources say DHT is not required just testosterone itself. I am a weightlifter and dont want to negatively affect my gains. I would also like to use your Andro Spray. Im assuming if I use the Andro spray the Hair Caps will also prevent that from being converted into DHT as well? Please offer any advice you can. So much information on the internet is contradictory.
Thank You Very Much.

Connection between DMAE, Deprenyl, and Hair Loss?
Dear Dr. Dean
1. Is there any possible connection between the use of DMAE and increased male hair loss via accelerated DHT production or other means?
2. Would Deprenyl use at anti-aging dose(1 mg -2xweek)cause an increase in hair loss?

DHEA-Induced Hair Loss
Dear Dr. Dean:
I am post-menopausal and generally in good health. About five years ago I tried VRP's DHEA but had to discontinue because of hair loss. (It grew back.)
Several years ago, when the 7-keto variety came out, I tried that product with the same result.
I've been reading good things about DHEA lately and have been considering trying again. Is there some reduced schedule I might take it on? Or must it be taken daily?
I am taking Armour Thyroid (60 mg/day) and Hydrochlorothiazide (1/2 of a 25 mg tablet) for blood pressure. I have a few questions.
1) Can I take resveratrol with my medication? Will they work together without contradicting each other?
I have problems with cholesterol (~ 225) and I am 77 years old.
2) Do I need to take anything else for cholesterol? The thyroid medication caused my hair to thin and fall out. I am taking Healthy Hair Caps and Extension Hair & Nails.
3) Are those vitamins OK to take with my medication?
Also I have macular degeneration (dry) and I would appreciate it if you could tell me what I could take. I am now taking Extension Vision Bilberry Lutein Zinc Lipoic Acid and Vinpocetine.
It is very difficult because none of the doctors I go to believe that vitamins can help. They dont know very much about vitamins; so they cant tell me what I can take with the medication I am now taking.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! FF
Female Hair Loss & Hormones
Dear Dr. Dean
My wife has been struggling with thyroid and hormone problems for several years following the birth of our child. Traditional medicine and blood testing has found nothing remarkable but alternative therapy and the saliva tests have produced results. In addition to T-3 therapy and DHEA (which helped her metabolism) she also had a saliva test to measure hormone levels. Taking estrogen and progesterone for about a year brought her hormones under control but led to side effects like excessive facial hair and acne that forced her to go back on a low dose estrogen based birth control pill. This seemed to help for two to three months but the facial hair problem worsened and she stopped taking the pill two months ago.
Since then even though she has increased her activity level and maintained her diet she has experienced dramatic weight gains particularly in her hips and thighs and her hair is falling out.
She currently takes GluControl and Silica Gel but has seen no lessening of the rate of hair loss and is very concerned. Do you have any suggestions on other supplements or courses of action while she waits for three months to pass before taking another female hormone saliva test? Thank you!

Hair Loss and Rosacea
Dear Dr. Dean:
I read the article about your Healthy Hair Caps. I tried Avacor. It started to work but it made my rosacea flare up because it has something in it that dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow so I stopped taking it.
Im checking out propecia but rather try something natural like your product. So my questions are: Does your product increase blood flow or dilate blood vessels? Can it make my rosacea flare up? If not how long to see results?
Hopefully I can try this for a couple of months.
Thanks.

Hair loss following Childbirth
Dear Dr. Dean:
A little over 5 years ago was my first time taking any type of birth control. About 6-8 weeks after I had my daughter I took Depo-Provera shot in my hip and my hair has not been the same. I had thick beautiful hair and now it is thinner at my ends and I have had a lot of shedding. I have taken the Extension Hair & Nails for the last month. Do you have any other suggestions?

Healthy Hair Caps and Hot Flashes
Dear Dr. Dean:
I bought a bottle of healthy hair caps. While they have been every effective in regrowing my lost hair when I take them I get hot flashes and other symtoms of hormone deficiency. I am on HRT replacement. Is there any particular ingredient that might be causing this reaction and what can I use instead that will reduce the DHT but not counteract the estrogen? JB

Help for Hair Loss
Dear Dr. Dean:
My Boyfriend has been fighting pattern baldness (alopecia) for several months now and I know that it is an auto-immune system disease.
Does this mean that we should get him on some vitamins that boost immune system function or will this increase the speed at which his White Blood cells are attacking the hair follicles? Will this correct what is wrong with his immune system or make it more confused?
I know there is no cure for Alopecia at this time. I just want to try anything to help it get back on the right path.
Very Concerned.

Overweight, Acne, and Hair Loss
Dear Dr. Dean,
I am 42 years old. I am only 5 feet 2 inches tall and I weigh 165 lbs. As you can see, I am overweight. I also have mild alopecia and still have acne. I have tried every diet possible, and the only one that works is eliminating carbs 100%, and of course it is impossible to live on a no carb diet. Can you please help? What do suggest I do? Does this mean that I cannot metabolize carbohydrates? This diet was short-lived for me. I just couldn't live this way.
I have been using Healthy Hair Caps for a while, and using Polysorbate 80 on my scalp. Is there any hope for me that I can lose weight, get rid of my acne and alopecia?
One thing I did get rid of -- my migraine headaches, thanks to your article on ADD. I started taking Carnosine, L-Carnitine, Gaba, L-Glutamine, Taurine, L-Tyrosine, and 5-HTP as suggested on your article for ADD. To my surprise, my migraines have disappeared. Thank you. I am also giving my son the same thing, along with Huperzine, and he is also doing better in school. His grades from school are improving slowly. I thought I might pass it on to you.
