Dear Dr. Meletis,
What alternative do I have to 50,000 IU Vitamin D capsules in polythene glycol? I am having severe side effects from the glycol. I have the lowest level of Vitamin D the doc has ever seen, less than 4! Thanks for your attention and answer.
Ms. R.
Dear Ms. R.,
You may check with your doctor about using 5,000 to 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily for a specific period of time prior to retesting. This is what my patients are encouraged to do.
I will start otherwise healthy patients with stable calcium levels on 5,000 to 10,000 IU per day for 1 month, then I will retest and continue to retest Vitamin D levels each month until a blood level of 55 is achieved (range 20-100). Your physician may have another goal for your blood levels. If you have not yet watched the free Vitamin D3 webinar that can be found under the Research Center on the homepage this would be very enlightening. http://www.vrp.com/webinar/index.aspx#24
