Dear Dr. Meletis,
I have inguinal hernia on the right side. No other problems. Most likely I am going for surgery. I haven’t seen the doctor yet. I am just reading the information. I understand after surgery the recovery time can be painful. Right now I have no pain. I am undecided whether I should or shouldn’t go for the surgery. What vitamins should be taken before and after the surgery? Right now I take: 1. AndroAMP 2. AndroPrime™ 3. CoQ10-H2™ 4. Glutathione Plus 5. Natto 3x 6. Nattokinase+ 7. Glabrinex™ 8. Melatonin 9. Turmeric Extract 10. Vesteva™ 11. Vitamin C 12. Vitamin E 13. Omega-3 fatty acids and 14. Tribulus Terrestris.
Thanks.
Mr. T.
Dear Mr. T.,
Prior to surgery you will want to discontinue the Natto, Turmeric, and Vitamin E for sure at least 2 weeks before due to their blood-thinning effect. Generally, my patients stop all their non-life-sustaining supplements 2 weeks prior to be on the conservative side to avoid potential interactions with conventional medications.
My patients generally use the following pre-surgical protocol. Your doctor should approve this prior to your implementing pre-surgically: MSM 2,000 mg per day, Vitamin C 2,000 mg per day, Zinc 50 mg per day, HA Lozenges 30 mg (1 lozenge per day), B12 1,000 to 2,000 mcg and B complex (Extension B-Plex). The latter two are for nerve support for the post-surgical recovery process; the other items are for tissue health and connective tissue integrity. Often the use of EpiCor® 1 pill per day to bolster innate normal immune function is taken to help protect against exposures that can occur while in a hospital setting.
Your personal healthcare provider can help guide you relative to what will be the best dosing regimen for you.
Sincerely,
Chris D. Meletis, ND
