Dear Dr. Meletis, I have a technical question. I am dealing with an HIV positive baby, 1 year and 3 months old. I want to give the baby Glutathione Plus (1/2 capsule), together with Selenium 50 mcg. The matter is very urgent, as CD4 is at 35. The parents are trying to avoid going onto ARVs (Anti-Retroviral medications). Regards, Ms. W.
Dear Ms. W., In terms of the circumstance that you describe relative to age and HIV status, often a fairly aggressive program is put into place. I can’t advise whether or not to do conventional therapy; that must be a personal and thought out decision. The way that I will answer this question is: what would I do if it was my child? I would definitely consider incorporating both the Glutathione Plus and EpiCor® Junior as well as Fucoidan and Beta-Glucan. Certainly, I would also recommend proper hydration, avoidance of food allergens (a Food Allergy Test is available here), minimizing exposure to individuals with illness and also making sure that blood levels of Vitamin D3 are adequate. Food Allergy Testing is a consideration since less than optimal foods are a hindrance to proper immune health. Also, needless to say, make sure that there is sufficient Zinc in the diet or at least 5 mg supplemental Zinc, upon approval of his or her medical doctor. Sincerely, Chris D. Meletis, ND
