Dear Dr. Meletis,
Do you have any information on vitamins/supplements for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)?
Ms. P.
Dear Ms. P.,
From a regulatory perspective, it is not possible to comment specifically about a health condition and how natural medicines can assist. With my patients, the first thing that I do with Lou Gehrig’s is to make sure that there are NO positive Lyme antigen/antibodies, thus ensuring that any contributing or exacerbating causes have been ruled out for the symptoms.
To support healthy nerve function, I focus on GPC (found in Brain Vibrance™ Liquid Shots), Lipoic Acid, Vitamin B12 (form: Methylcobalamin) as foundational starting points, yet each potential focal point of healthy nutritional support needs to be based on individual need, personal risk factors, etc. Thus working closely with your neurologist is absolutely critical. Also you may wish to look at the research efforts relative to the off-label use of ACTOS®, a diabetic medication.
The above basic nutritional considerations are not suggested to treat any specific condition.
Sincerely,
Chris D. Meletis, ND
