Dear VRP I live the active lifestyle and have been using your products for years. I have a question about Androstenedione & DHEA. I have noticed an increase in body hair. Im not sure whether it is the fact that I am getting older Im 36 or the supplements. Im not abusing them and would like to continue using them. I use 2 sprays of the AndroSpray before working out and take 50 mg of DHEA once a day in the morning. I take Saw Palmetto to counter any conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. Is there any way to reverse this increase in body hair?Lastly beside shaving what is the best way to remove body hair possibly permanently? Thanks R.A.
Dear R.A. Theres an old (not so funny joke) that as we get older we lose the hair on top of our heads and start growing hair in our ears and back.So thats probably whats happening. The two conditions that probably cause this are: (1) an increase in DHT (as you surmised); and (2) increased estrogen.Solutions for this are to use saw palmetto stinging nettle or pygeum africanum which all block the conversion of testosterone to DHT to greater or lesser degrees. There is a possibility that the androstenedione is converting to estrogen. You might try switching to androstenediol which does not convert directly to estrogen as androstenedione may. Another approach is to take VRPs new indole-3-carbinol (I3C) or BioDIM which act as estrogen vacuum cleaners. With regard to hair removal Ill have to admit Ive never looked into it.Sorry. Perhaps a local cosmetologist could shed some light on this.Hope these suggestions are helpful.Ward Dean M.D.
