Dear Dr. Dean,My blood work revealed a 13.3 on a range of 1.8-12.5 as normal for DHEA. I know most people are trying to raise theirs, but do you know how to bring this down? I have symptoms of DHEA side effects, acne, insomnia, palpatations and I guess hair loss could be one. I am waiting to hear from my doctor on this as well. Thanks.Mr. Y.

Dear Mr. Y.,How old are you? Slightly high DHEA may be normal for you. How was your cortisol? Increased DHEA may be due to excess adrenal output. AdaptaPhase® I may help. Also, palpitations, insomnia, and hair loss may also be due to hyperthyroidism. I think more comprehensive testing by your physician is appropriate. If hyperthyroidism is a diagnosis, please see the articles about iodine at www.vrp.com. In hyperthyroid conditions such as Graves’ Disease, Iodoral® may help. Ward Dean, M.D.
