Dear Dr. Meletis,
Can you recommend anything for adult attention deficit disorder (ADD)?
Ms. S.
Dear Ms. S.,
There are many reasons for ADD-like symptoms. It really varies as to potential causes. First and foremost, good hydration: 64 ounces of pure clean water per day is important. Also, getting 7 to 8 hours quality sleep is key. If you snore, you will want to be screened for sleep apnea. From a supplement perspective, Brain Vibrance™ is a popular item, along with Zinc, Essential fatty acids (such as Ethyl EPA) and a B complex (Extension B-Plex) are also commonly used in combination. Also, if you have not looked at food sensitivities, this would also be important. I often find this a contributing factor. A 96-item Food Allergy Test is available here.
Lastly, for initial considerations, low adrenal function can be contributory. An Adrenal Function Panel is available here as well. There are many other potential factors, risk factors such as thyroid issues, heavy metals, etc. that your doctor will need to also help rule out.
Sincerely,
Chris D. Meletis, ND
