Dear Dr. Meletis, My mother (age 75) suffers from chronic allergies. She has severe sinus pressure, sneezing, and lots of mucus which makes it difficult to swallow food sometimes. This is really affecting her quality of life. Since she is on Coumadin® she is not allowed a lot of the typical over the counter medications. I was wondering if she could take QuerCelain®? Please help! Thanks for your time, Ms. C.
Dear Ms. C., In my clinical practice I have many patients that come into the office already prescribed Coumadin, and I routinely use QuerCelain. As you know, diet, hydration and a wide variety of items can affect blood thickness and hence Coumadin. For my patients that are relatively stable to their blood thinning therapy I will start a patient on a 1 capsule per day of QuerCelain routine and then slowly work them up to a full dose while monitoring their INR and PT/PTT levels. I also recommend for my patients to get a Food Sensitivity Test that measures 96 hidden food allergens; VRP offers this test. I would encourage you to read my article on allergies, available on the website, that gives some helpful hints on eliminating environmental triggers as well. The information shared here is educational and is not intended as either diagnosis or treatment. Working closely with your personal physician is always important. Sincerely, Chris D. Meletis, ND
