DHA is a primary essential nutrient for brain, nerve and eye health.

Children, pregnant women and seniors prefer nonflavored DHA in smaller, easier-to-swallow capsules from Vitamin Research Products.

What is DHA?

DHA is a dietary essential fat. It is ‘essential’ because it cannot be made in the human body and it is necessary for normal growth, development and maintenance of the brain, eyes, nerves and immune system.

DHA is one of the premier omega-3 fats and there is no substitute.

In the diet, DHA is found in fish. Plant forms of omega-3, such as flax seeds and walnuts, are not a reliable source of DHA.

Pregnancy and DHA

Developing infants need DHA and mom is the only source. The demand for DHA during the last trimester of pregnancy and the first 2 years of life is greater than any other time in life. The minimum recommended intake of DHA during pregnancy is 300 mg1. Recent research indicates that up to 90% of pregnant women consume less than the minimum recommended intake.

Teens and adults

Teens and adults consume too little DHA for optimal health. No other nutrient can functionally replace DHA in eyes, brain and nerve cells.

Seniors and DHA

Seniors who have consumed more DHA over their lifetime have better cognition and less confusion, compared to those who consume less. Research indicates DHA plays a vital role in preserving healthy brain function as we age.

Regular consumption of DHA earlier in life is best, but improving intake at any time has benefits.

Better vision and eye health is associated with DHA intake*.

Vitamin Research Products offers purified and unflavored DHA in smaller capsules. Smell and taste sensitive individuals often prefer unflavored DHA. Stabilized with mixed tocopherols, the better blend of vitamin E, to maintain freshness.
