New Solution to Anxiety over Animal-Derived Products

VRP is pleased to announce the introduction of our new, all-natural, vegetarian capsules--Vcaps. By the time you read this almost all VRP
formulations will have been converted to Vcaps. VRP has long wished to offer our clients--particularly those who are vegetarian--an alternative to the beef-derived gelatin capsules used by the medical and nutritional industry for decades. This goal was hampered by the fact that industry efforts to produce all-vegetarian capsules were fraught with technical problems, and a suitable alternative to animal-based gelatin capsules was virtually non-existent. Now, recent breakthroughs in capsule technology have made vegetable-based capsules a reality, and with anxiety about animal-based products running high--particularly among our European clients--the timing couldnt be better.

Gelatin Capsules
Until now, all VRP encapsulated supplements have been packaged using only the highest quality, pure, pharmaceutical grade gelatin capsules available. Our gelatin capsules were in full compliance with all US and European requirements. Accordingly, we believe that the gelatin capsules used by the nutritional and medical industry are safe and present no risks connected to the current problems plaguing European beef and animal-based food products. Yet, given the spreading global anxiety over animal-based products, we decided to make a complete conversion to all-vegetable capsules.

Vcaps � The Clear Solution
Early attempts to engineer vegetarian capsules turned out shells that tended to jam when running through high-speed encapsulating machines. The capsules were so brittle and fragile that if they survived the encapsulation machine, they tended to fracture easily, rupturing and spilling their contents throughout the bottle.

Vcaps are the result of a new approach to manufacturing vegetarian capsules. The breakthrough occurred when researchers discovered that a commonly used cellulose raw material derived from plants possessed the needed combination of flexibility and strength for the unique requirements of nutritional (and pharmaceutical) capsules.

Total Conversion
VRP is proud to play a key role in introducing Vcaps as the leading alternative to animal-based packaging. We believe that Vcaps all-vegetarian capsules will quickly set a new standard for nutritional delivery systems throughout the supplement industry. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to enhancing product quality, VRP is converting our entire line of 350+ nutrients and life-extension formulas over to Vcaps. The logistics of switching our inventory is a demanding and expensive commitment, with the new capsules costing 50% more than standard gelatin capsules. VRP is absorbing all related costs of the switchover, again, in support of our commitment to offering only the highest quality products at fair prices.

Bulk Powders and Starch Papers
VRP also carries edible starch papers--unique, flexible vegetarian paper wafers used to wrap powdered nutrients and formulas for personal consumption. VRP will also continue to offer a wide array of supplements in bulk powder form, along with our popular home encapsulation kit.
